Veterinarian
Lovell Animal Hospital in Knoxville, TN is excited to add another veterinarian to our awesome team! We are a two-doctor practice, specializing in small animal general medicine while also caring for the occasional pocket pet. Our DVMs have over 5 decades of combined experience and are supported by a team of equally experienced technicians, assistants, and CSRs. Our practice is equipped with digital radiology, in-house laboratory, ultrasound, laser therapies, and more to provide our expansive clientele base with top-of-the-line medicine daily.
We welcome an experienced associate DVM ready to help take on our growing new patient list or a Managing Veterinarian looking to take on a leadership role. Our clients are compassionate and caring, ready to form a tight-knit bond with any new team member. We also welcome any surgical interest as we hope to continue expanding our surgical caseload! Both full and part time positions are available.
Responsibilities:
– Conduct thorough examinations and evaluations of animals to diagnose and treat various medical conditions
– Perform surgeries, including spaying and neutering, as well as dental procedures
– Develop and implement treatment plans for animals, including prescribing medications and recommending dietary changes
– Provide vaccinations and preventative care to maintain the health of animals
– Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including nutrition, exercise, and behavior management
– Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members to ensure the highest quality of care for animals
– Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Skills:
– Strong knowledge of animal husbandry and animal physiology
– Proficiency in veterinary medicine and surgical techniques
– Experience in dog training and behavior modification
– Familiarity with kennel operations and management
– Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and staff members
– Ability to handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety during examinations and procedures
– Competency in animal catheterization techniques
– Experience working with pocket pets is a bonus

Veterinary Technician
Our practice is excited to add another Veterinary Technician to our team! We are looking for an individual who is good at communicating, organization, and multi-tasking, and who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate would have at least 1-2 years’ previous experience in veterinary medicine.
Non-credentialed technicians: $13-19/hr
Licensed Veterinary Medical Technicians: Up to $22/hr
Operating Hours: M-F from 7:30am-5:30pm and Saturday from 8am-12:00pm

Essential Functions:
- Able to perform basic animal handling and restraint
- Be able to accurately position for radiographs
- Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery
- Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs
- Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights as well as providing client education

Groomer
More about the Role:
Reporting into the Practice Manager, the Groomer looks after the condition of the patient’s coat by providing services to keep the patient clean and well-cared for. Working with a variety of patients (breeds and sizes), the Groomer is responsible for patient bathing, fur and teeth brushing, nail trimming and grinding while providing a Fear Free experience. The Groomer engages with clients to understand expectations, patient special needs, and desired outcomes. The Groomer is also responsible to ensure grooming rooms or designated space is clean, sanitized, safe, and secure. The Groomer is able to groom multiple breeds to breed and client standards while treating our patients with the highest standard of compassion and care. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, with a great attitude and has the ability to groom 6+ pets per day (depending on the size and coat).
Commission based pay $.
Monday – Friday and one Saturday a month.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Admits patients noting the client’s specific instructions to ensure a quality outcome including contact information and pick up time.
- Determines any veterinary services required during the client’s visit. In accordance with hospital operating instructions, determines care required in agreement with the individual needs and circumstances of the patients.
- Observes patient appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent. Parts patient’s hair to check for ticks, fleas, red, sore or inflamed areas and any lumps. Reports signs of illness, disease, injury or unusual activity to veterinary technicians or veterinarians.
- Appropriately handles patients and as needed, properly restrains hard-to-control patients.
- Performs bathing services, including shampooing and drying.
- Performs grooming services, including brushing, clipping, hand scissoring, trimming and shaping the patient’s coat. Appropriately shapes hair using knowledge of patient characteristic, grooming techniques, styles, breed standards and client’s instructions.
- Stays current and up to date on new techniques and trends that client are looking for as related to provided services.
- Provides medication (when instructed) and general cleansing, parasite control baths, pedicures, medicated dips (when instructed) and ear cleansing, as required for each patient.
- Applies technical knowledge of products and medications sold, including dietary products. Explains and educates clients on products and answers questions regarding product purchase/use.
- Performs work according to established methods specified in practice procedure manual or following special instructions.
- Performs all general maintenance of grooming room and yard; cleans and disinfects cages, tubs, grooming tables, and yard at least once daily. Vacuums and mops floor; empties trash; cleans clipper blades, scissors and brushes after use; performs monthly dryer and clipper maintenance.
- Maintains clean and sanitary workspace.
- Delivers final groomed patient to client and ensures satisfaction. Appropriately addresses concerns.
- Where applicable, trains, supervises, and assists the Grooming Assistant in their performance of a variety of service functions. Sets performance standards and monitor performance. Conducts timely performance evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Kennel Assistant
More about the Role:
Reporting into the Practice Manager, the Kennel Assistant provides care to address the needs of patients that are visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding. The Kennel Assistant ensures that the boarding area is clean and safe for all patients by cleaning cages, runs, and ward areas and washing laundry. The Kennel Assistant walks, feeds, and administers medication to patients (as needed and supervised by Doctor or Technician and based on confidence and experience). The ideal candidate is reliable and compassionate, able to work independently, is a self-starter, has open availability and is able to work weekends and holidays. We are seeking a candidate with great customer service skills who is confident interacting with clients and providing them with updates on their pets.
Pay: $12 – $15 p/hr, depending on experience
Must have open availability/ability to work holidays and weekends.

- Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding.

- Accurately and legibly records information related to the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during practice visit.
- Observes patient’s appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent.

- Walks patients several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
- Applies knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements and as required, provides special food and liquids.
- Ensures patients are clean and fresh smelling and have been checked by a Technician / Doctor prior to discharge; ensures patient has all personal property upon exit.
- Ensures cages and patients are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper areas and identified.
- Regularly cleans, disinfects and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Performs general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease. Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls.
- Launders and dries towels and blankets.
- Walks hospital grounds regularly and cleans any trash and stool material; empties trash throughout the practice and grounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
